Consumer Safety Inspector Jobs in government organizations are a well paying and rewarding career choice for many people. Safety inspectors get to ensure that the products being sold to consumers are meeting safety standards. This gives them a varied work routine and also an opportunity to help society. Most of the safety inspectors have a bachelor’s degree and for those in the more technical organizations of the government, such as civil engineering or chemicals, they have the relevant degree.Safety inspectors have to join the civil service by giving exams and their jobs are considered stable and well paying with good benefits. Once a safety inspector has gathered enough experience, he may even leave for the private sector or start his own consultancy. For those who want to stay with the civil service, advancement is competitive and also more financially rewarding. In 2008, there were around 12,500 safety inspectors and their median wage in local government organizations was $45,000.
