The starting salary for this position is around $24,000. After the clerks, next up is the assistant position, which again is needed across all agencies. Assistants are paid around $30,000 per year. Technicians are paid around $32,000 per year and secretaries and accountants are paid $27,000 and $33,000 per year respectively. Local government agencies at the city and county level are also hiring people all the time and most of these are in the utilities sector.
