Position Description Title/PD#: Medical Equipment Worker / 5262-O
The incumbent of this position will provide production support services in the Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service.
The major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Repairs, maintains, overhauls, and modifies a full range of electric and mechanically operated medical equipment, such as wheelchairs, scooters, electric hospital beds, wheelchair/van lifts and other non-mechanical devices such as walkers.
Responsible for evaluating durable medical equipment and all mechanical devices utilized by patients to determine the safety of the devices.
Performs clerical or technical level work to procure supplies and service to meet the procurement requirements of the service.
Procures or manages the procurement of prosthetic devices for eligible patients.
Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.

PHYSICAL EFFORT/REQUIREMENTS: Lifts or handles items 15-44 pounds. Assignments involve standing, bending, or working from cramped or kneeling positions.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in a well-lit, heated, and ventilated shop area, in shelters or at workbench. Exposed to possibility of electric shock, burns, or injury from use of hand and power tools.
Your background must demonstrate experience in:
Assembly, evaluation, and repair of medical equipment (wheelchairs and scooters), serving as a technical advisor to clinicians, tracks electronic documentation of workload, use of electrical test equipment, develops efficient methods for maximum service performance, counsels patients on proper use of items, completes repairs following guidelines and established practices and procedures.
EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume or OF-612.
