DESCRIPTION
The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) is recruiting for a Assistant Superintendent for Facilities Maintenance Bus a 24/7 operation. The Assistant Superintendent, Facilities Maintenance Bus is a management level position. Working with the Superintendent to direct and coordinate the day-to-day services of a maintenance department including budgeting, staffing, scheduling, and procurement. The incumbent covers 4 Bus Divisions, Bus Stops and any other properties or locations MTA does business. The incumbent oversees a department with Supervisors, Repairmen, Janitors, and other staff and contract employees who repair, maintain, service, clean, install, inspect, test, electro-mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, roofing, pneumatic, hydraulic, fire management systems (FMS), ventilation, HVAC, and equipment. The incumbent will be directing, planning and developing methods to effectively utilize maintenance personnel and resources to maintain 24hr shops. The incumbent directly supervises subordinate supervisors who are responsible for union technicians and professional employees. The Assistant Superintendent's work is performed in an office or shop setting.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience:
Five (5) years of experience in the operation and/or maintenance of a mass transit system and/or related operations that required the resolution of operational problems related to scheduled service, equipment failure, equipment maintenance, inclement weather, or other service disruptions. One year of the required experience must have involved supervisory or program management responsibilities. * Three (3) years of experience in the repair, maintenance, installation, inspection, testing or operation of either: electrical and HVAC systems; plumbing, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems; fuel pumps and dispensing systems, electro-mechanical. *Two (2) years of the required work experience must have involved supervising facilities maintenance personnel.

when the position requires specific or additional bona fide occupational qualifications (knowledge, skill, or ability).
SUBSTITUTION INFORMATION:
1. Additional experience as defined above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Additional education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience for to four years of the required non-supervisory experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Employee may travel and work outdoors at various locations throughout the MTA service area, in all types of weather conditions, and at all times of the day or night.

2. Employee may be exposed to a variety of hazards including, but not limited to, toxic materials and fumes, asbestos, flammable or combustible agents; any of which may require the use of personal safety equipment such as hard hats, hearing protection, protective eyewear/footwear, and respirators.

3. Employees are subject to call-in 24 hours a day and will be required to maintain a
reliable communication link for the purpose of emergency call back requirements.

4. Employees may be required to work evenings, holidays, and weekends.

5. Employees are required to travel to various locations throughout the MTA service
area.

6. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in
accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations 49- Federal Department of
Transportation Drug Alcohol Testing Protocols and Federal Transit Administration Alcohol Testing Rules.
Licenses & Certifications
Employees in this classification will be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.
Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
