Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Pest Controller without more than normal supervision: set traps, baits, and sprays to control common pests in various environments; properly mix and apply chemicals for effective pest control with minimal to no supervision; perform termite inspections and identify infected areas. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

\tPHYSICAL EFFORT: The work requires moderate to heavy physical effort such as lifting and carrying items often weighing 50 pounds or more. May carry chemical solutions and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds for extended periods. Moves furniture and equipment and operates high impact pneumatic hammers as well is various carpentry and masonry tools. The job requires working in a wide variety of locations, frequently in cramped and uncomfortable positions (for example, accessing attics with 2x4 beams with limited space to physically move easily). Must be able to climb and work off a 40-foot ladder and also out of an aerial platform. Requires stooping, bending, crawling, and climbing.
\tWORKING CONDITIONS: The work is accomplished both inside and outside. When working outside, pest control workers are often exposed to hot sun for extended periods of time and occasionally to bad weather. Outside work may be done under hot and dusty conditions for extended periods. Inside work is often accomplished in structural areas with minimum ventilation or limited access. The protective equipment designed to nullify the risk of exposure to toxic dust and sprays, which might damage their health. Damage of health may occur if appropriate safety procedures are not followed. Discomfort may be experienced while wearing protective clothing, respirators (for extended periods of time of up to 4 hours), goggles, or face masks for extended periods of time. They may be exposed to poisonous insects and plants and to wild animals. Protective devices such as but not limited to ear plugs, safety glasses, respirators, gloves, hardhat and safety shoes is required. Steel toed shoes, hard hats and safety glasses, are required at all times. Coveralls with long sleeves or trousers with a long sleeve shirt must be worn at all times.
