This position is located under the Division of Nursing Services - Women's Health Nursing Branch with the Crownpoint Healthcare Facility in Crownpoint, New Mexico. The purpose of this position is to perform limited nursing care services for ambulatory patients in the Women's Health Clinic. The position reports to the Supervisory Clinical Nurse for the department.

This is a Direct Hire Announcement (DHA) for a Permanent Full-Time, Part-Time, or Intermittent Nurse. Qualified candidates with a complete application will be considered for current or future vacancies as they occur. Plans and provides delivery of comprehensive health care to patients utilizing stands of care and practices.

Assesses patient's condition by reviewing automated health records systems.

Constructs a visit plan using the nursing process, through a set of written instruction to the health care team which reflects the patients major health needs beyond those expressed by the chief complaints.

Assist in the management of the various specialty clinics.

Provides patient and family education to patient and families on preventive, curative and rehabilitation measures involved in health care.

Triages, screens/urgent and provides emergency treatment according to the status of patient and level of care.

Administers prescribed oral medications hypodermic injections and intravenous medication as ordered.

Maintains health records by documentation of observations, nursing interventions and therapeutic measures administered.

Maintains required nursing certification and stays abreast of changes.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.

In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-


Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: consulting and coordinating with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.

Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.

Basic Requirements for the GS-5 (or equivalent) Grade Level

To qualify at the GS-5 (or equivalent) grade level, applicants must meet one of the following qualification requirements:

Possession of a bachelor's degree in Nursing with no experience; or Possession of a diploma or associate degree in professional nursing and one full year of professional nursing experience.

Basic Requirements for the GS-7 (or equivalent) Grade Level

In addition to the above Basic Requirements of , applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

Possession of a bachelor's degree in Nursing and eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement provision;

Possession of a bachelor's degree in Nursing and at least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-5 grade level);

Possession of a diploma or associate degree in professional nursing and two full years of professional nursing experience; or

Completion of at least one full year of graduate education in a professional nursing educational program.

Basic Requirements for the GS-9 (or equivalent) Grade Level

In addition to the above requirements, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

Possession of a master's degree in professional nursing; or

At least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-7 grade level or above) and possession of a diploma, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in Nursing from a professional nursing program.
