Summary
Incumbent will be responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, installing and modifying complex boilers and ancillary equipment in addition to air conditioning, heating, ventilating, (HVAC) equipment and systems.

Responsibilities
Maintains a system consisting of multi-fuel water tube and fire tube high pressure boilers (200 H.P.-900
H.P.); chillers (300-500 ton capacity); and DDC computerized burner management and monitoring system;
Operates, maintains, and modifies system to optimize efficiency and energy savings;
Maintains safety and environmental functions at proper levels for patient care and other facility operations;
Has experience operating one or more utility systems of large capacity and flexibility (i.e. multi-fuel boilers with output ranges of 7,500-100,000 pounds of steam per hour and centrifugal and steam absorption chillers up to 500 ton capacity);
Utilizes multi-meters, logic diagrams, as-built electronic and pneumatic control drawings, electronic and pneumatic schematics, manufacturer's literature and other usual and customary trade tools;
Monitors various back up alarm systems such as Fire Alarm, Emergency Generators, Water Tower Levels, and Liquid Oxygen, etc.;
Completes assignments through work orders and outlined general objectives;
Makes decisions regarding technical procedures and techniques;
Ensures work deadlines are met minimizing equipment downtime and utility disruptions;
Keeps shop and work areas and equipment clean, secure, and orderly;
Articulates verbally and in writing assignments received from supervisor;
Records operational readings of all associated systems;
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Rotating shifts (8am-4pm), (4pm-12am), & (12am-8am), including Saturdays and Sundays

Physical Requirements:
The position requires the employee to be physically fit to be able to perform the rigors of the job. S/he must pass a yearly fitness for duty physical (including respiratory fit testing) and is subject to random testing for use of illegal substances. Frequently required to carry, lift, and set up parts and equipment that weigh more than 50 pounds.
