As a POWER SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC TRAINING LEADER, WL-5378-10,you will plan, develop, and validate training; determine and select instructional designs, methods and media; develop training materials to support objective; prepare required training and statistical data; monitor progress and counsel students on performance; perform and prepare performance evaluations on each student; certify competence level and ensure completion of required documentation; instruct, and evaluate students in maintaining and modifying electrical power production equipment; perform, instruct, and evaluate students on installation and operation of the mobile aircraft arresting system and the BAK-12 aircraft arresting system; perform repair of components such as fixed gasoline or diesel engines, generators, centrifuges, starter motors, associated generating and distributing equipment and aircraft arresting systems; conduct tests of equipment using voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, continuity tester, feeler gauge and other test equipment; adjust and calibrate components; modify equipment; maintain and repair electrical generating equipment; perform inspection, maintenance, and major modification; troubleshoot complex repair situations; bench check repairable components and subassemblies of electrical power generating equipment; determine extent of repair/rebuild; test and calibrate repaired gauges, controls and meters; interpret maintenance malfunction data related to the electrical power generating systems; inspect electrical power production equipment; analyze malfunctions by visual or auditory inspection, observation or operation and use of test equipment; interpret inspection findings and determine adequacy of corrective action; inspect completed or in-progress work; advise on technical problems of installation and repair of electrical power production equipment; devise and establish maintenance and operating procedures; diagnose recurring malfunctions and recommend repair procedures necessary to correct defective equipment; establish maintenance and operating procedures; formulate comprehensive training plans for AF military personnel; conduct on-the-job training as well as classroom instruction; operate standby units during commercial power failure and perform operational checks, inspections, services, and make emergency repairs of standby units in the field; assist electrical personnel in the various phases of installation, troubleshooting and repair.

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.

This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

Minimum Requirements: Experience or training that has provided the candidate with sufficient knowledge to complete the work of this occupational series. Experience or training which demonstrates the candidates ability to lead other technicians engaged in the duties performed by this occupational series.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others in fields directly related the repair function of this occupational series. Must have the ability to perform administrative functions; to read and interpret a variety of technical publications used in the repair of supported equipment. The ability to provide guidance to others in work related directly to this occupational series.
