This position is located in the Office of the Secretary, Office of the General Counsel, Immediate Office. The employee serves as Staff Assistant to the Administrative Officer and Administrative Specialist and performs a wide variety of secretarial, clerical, and administrative duties.
The ideal candidate for this position is a professional and motivated individual who can work in a fast pace environment and has experience dealing with senior level high ranking employees. The individual should have wide variety of secretarial, clerical and administrative experience.

As a Staff Assistant, you will:
Establish and maintain control reports/spreadsheets for accounting fiscal funds for the procurement of all supplies, legal subscriptions, travel, contracts, training, etc.
Use various systems operations for personnel actions, time and attendance, personnel in/out processing, contracts and travel.
Develop changes to and sets up project files and reference files relating to the work of the Administrative Officer and Administrative Specialist.
Serve as a back-up in the coordinating and processing S-10’s, Press Releases, Reports to Congress and Responses to Government Accountability Office/Office of the Inspector General (GAO/OIG) inquiries.
Receive incoming telephone calls, escort visitors; inquire as to the nature of their calls/visits, furnishes the desired information without prior approval of supervisor.

To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet either the education or specialized experience
TO QUALIFY FOR THE GS-09 on Education, you must have:
A Master's or equivalent graduate degree OR Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
A LL.B. or J.D., if related
To qualify for the GS-09 on Experience, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the following:
Experience managing and carrying out the day to day administrative functions of an office, dealing with executive correspondence, records management, tracking of office budget spending, generating personnel actions for human resources processing and working with senior level staff members.
You can also qualify based on a combination of education and matching experience.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
