DUTIES: As a General Supply Specialist, you will be responsible for the following duties:
Responsible for developing, coordinating, operating, evaluating and executing various aspects of controlled property management and materiel control at the command level
Provides technical advice and guidance to operating level personnel regarding the interpretation of materiel management regulations, policies and procedures
Performs the more difficult and complex functions associated with responding to problems and formulating plans for corrective actions on controlled property, DEMIL coding determination, inventory, and contractor surveillance issues.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies and gather/analyze inventory information which includes researching gains/losses resulting from physical inventory counts from non-accountable storage activities and inventory adjustment trends at accountable storage activities.
Provides guidance in the material management as it involves item identification, inventory control, materiel accountability , and transaction reconciliation with DispSvcs HQ, contractors, DOD generating activities.
Applies analytical techniques in evaluating problems, making recommendations and formulating plans for corrective actions on inventory and stock surveillance issues
Occasional travel - Travel may be required

This is an obligated position and occupancy is subject to the return of former incumbent. If former incumbent fails to return to the position, occupancy may become permanent.
This position is being filled as Term not-to-exceed (NTE) one (1) year with a possible one (1) year extension.
For current permanent Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) employees, this position will be filled as a Temporary Promotion or Reassignment NTE one (1) year and may be converted to a permanent promotion without further competition. For all others, if selected, this would be a Term Appointment NTE one (1) year with a possible one (1) year extension.
The selected applicant will be required to sign a written agreement acknowledging the conditions
of this temporary assignment and that they may be released from this position upon management discretion.
To qualify for a General Supply Specialist, your qualifications must include:
A. Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level Examples of specialized experience are identified in the Major Duties section of this vacancy announcement and may also include:
Coordinates investigations and responds to higher headquarters, Military Services, ICPs and DSCs inquiries concerning discrepant or suspected nonconforming materials
Interprets agency policy and procedures; provides authoritative guidance to command depots on performing post adjustment research and analysis.
Validates actions taken on high dollar and sensitive stocks to ensure corrective measures are taken.
B. Education: Applicants may not qualify for this position based on education in lieu of specialized experience.

DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE: The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) has established a
Drug-Free Federal Workplace Policy. All applicants tentatively selected for DLA
employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen
