Summary

You will serve as a Health Technician in the Department of the Navy of NAVAL HOSPITAL CAMP PENDLETON.

You will enter and retrieve patient information from the patient information system

You will obtain and assemble/maintain outpatient health records

You will prepare laboratory and radiology requests and other required forms as ordered

You will maintain a clean and safe patient care environment

You will practice and monitor application of proper universal precautions

You will notify designated supervisor if equipment requires periodic biomedical safety inspections and/or repair

You will recognizes and responds calmly and appropriately in emergency response procedures and patient safety

You will assist proviedrs with invasive and non-invasive examinations and procedures

You will monitor patients undergoing procedures/treatments and identifies patients with acute distress or with a potential acuity change

You will transport patients to other clinical/diagnostic areas as required and monitors patients for changes in condition and promptly reports observed changes

You will draw injectable medications in proper dosage for use by licensed, credentialed provider

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

- Administer blood draws, IV insertion, medication administration, post-operative wound care, suture removal, and proper use and wear of Orthopedic braces, splints, and other devices

- Verifies basic practical anatomy and physiology necessary to recognize common disease states

- Utilize available resources and techniques required to appropriately respond to patient care emergencies

- Apply basic clinical practices in accordance with established clinic policies, procedures and guidelines for the provision of safe, efficient, and effective healthcare

- Perform a variety of outpatient procedures as ordered under the direct supervision of a licensed, credentialed provider
