for additional park information.

These are Career-Seasonal positions and subject to release and recall procedures. A permanent career-seasonal position includes all the benefits of permanent employment, but does not provide employment on a full year-round basis. As such, selectees will be in a non-pay/non-duty status for at least 2 weeks to 6 months per year based on project requirements or weather conditions. Selectees are guaranteed to work at least 6 months per year but not more than 50 weeks per year, with the work schedule to be determined upon appointment. The typical season for Cape Hatteras National Seashore is February through December, but can be variable during these months due to project requirements or weather conditions.

These positions are located at Cape Hatteras National Seashore, (http://www.nps.gov/caha), in the Division of Maintenance, and supports the maintenance of park structures within the maintenance program. Buxton and Nags Head, NC are among several small villages located on the islands of the Outer Banks of North Carolina-a beach vacation destination. These villages all contain grocery stores, banks, and multiple restaurants. The local medical center provides basic treatment. The nearest hospital, as well as national chain department/drug stores and restaurants, may be located over two hours away. Cost of living on the Outer Banks is somewhat expensive. There is no public transportation available in the area-it is strongly recommended that employees have a private vehicle available for personal use. The Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce (www.outerbankschamber.com) and the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau (www.outerbanks.org) websites can provide additional community information.
