The purpose of this position is to ensure the municipal court is operating in an efficient and effective manner in compliance with all applicable laws. The court administrator is responsible for supervising the day to day operations of the court, assigning work duties of court personnel, responding to customer complaints, maintaining accurate court records, establishing and maintaining policies and procedures and training of court personnel. Starting salary for this position will depend on the selected candidate's qualifications. The salary range for this position is $57,650 - $82,908 annually. Requirements Essential Functions Provides premier customer service to citizens, internal and external customers by responding to requests in a positive, timely, effective and professional manner. Monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of the daily operation of the court by establishing departmental policies; develop and manage court programs and implement goals, objectives and policies. Supervises court personnel; delegates and assigns tasks and projects to appropriate personnel; selects and evaluates employees; schedules personnel for training opportunities to enhance their abilities and improve job performance. Schedules and maintains court dockets including notification to the judges, prosecutor, and bailiff. Prepares reports and support documents as needed, prepares annual budget by projecting funds needed for personnel, equipment, materials, supplies and court programs; monitors and approves expenditures and adjustments. Coordinates activities with other City departments and outside agencies by serving as the point of contact between the judge and other departments and agencies; negotiates and resolves sensitive and controversial issues. Serves on boards, commissions and committees; prepares and presents reports and provides assistance to other departments. Conducts operational studies and subsequent modifications to programs, policies and procedures; participates in professional association meetings and stay abreast of new trends and innovations in court administration. Provide assistance to the public by responding to and resolving citizen inquiries and complaints in a manner that is consistent with good customer service and promotes good public relations; ensures that defendants are informed of and allowed to exercise their rights as allowed by law. Responsible for the accurate accounting of Court receipts and disbursement of monies; ensures that State funds are remitted in a timely manner. Maintains all court records according to State and Federal laws by ensuring that records are prepared and disseminated; schedules destruction of records in accordance with record retention schedule. Provides accurate and timely statistical and conviction data to appropriate state agencies by assigning responsibilities to appropriate court personnel. Coordinates administrative support to judge and prosecutor by assigning appropriate court personnel for judicial proceedings. Analyzes newly enacted legislation and makes appropriate changes to policies. Communications such legislation to the appropriate party i.e. judge, staff, supervisor, council. Conduct regular staff meetings, in service and or cross training with core staff or other Administrative Services staff as assigned. Ensure that the Court operation has standard operating procedures, work plans and other appropriate documents. Regular attendance required. Minimum Qualifications Associate degree required or equivalent experience. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred. At least five years of related experience required, one to two years of supervisory experience required; local Government experience preferred. State of Texas Court Clerk Certification I and II required. Court Clerk Certification III is preferred.
