Description of Duties:
Under general to limited supervision, coordinates and supports the development of communication resources, strategies, and outreach for the Office of Federal Programs. Duties include, but are not limited to Develops content and design for federal programs publications, resources and materials for parents and school system personnel including but not limited to brochures, handouts, workshop templates, professional development modules, guidance/compliance documents, and special projects; Coordinates and supports the development of online communication resources, outreach, and professional development for federal programs; Maintains the GaDOE's federal programs webpages and develops social media posts; Coordinates and supports the development of online training courses and videos, coordinates with other divisions at GaDOE for development and implementation, and coordinates with federal programs staff to evaluate the impact of training courses and videos; Manages the registration/applications specific for the federal programs coordinator meetings, annual conferences, training surveys, and other federal programs training efforts; Builds and maintains effective working relationships with other agencies, assures coordination of services, and increases public awareness and support for federal programs district staff; Assists federal programs director with program responsibilities and projects as assigned.
A Bachelor's degree in communications or a related field from an accredited college or university AND three (3) years of communications experience OR six (6) years of communications or related experience; OR one (1) year of experience as a Communications Specialist 3 in Georgia State government. Note:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and strong computer skills. Must be able to successfully multi-task in a fast-paced office environment with competing priorities and deadlines.
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
• Strong graphic design experience
• Successful meeting planning experience
• Experience in developing presentations
• Excellent organizational skills
• Demonstrated competency in self-motivation/initiative
• Ability to work with a variety of agencies and individuals
• Knowledge of state and federal guidelines, including the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965
• Excellent technology skills including proficiency with InDesign, Prezi, Microsoft Office Suite, social media, and other innovative technology and graphic design programs
Pay grade L – Annual salary range is $40,982.94 (minimum) to $71,720.15 (maximum). * Hiring salary is commensurate with current employment and relevant education/training and work experience, and available funding
