NOTE 1:

The incumbent is a member of the Miami VA Healthcare System in Prosthetics and Sensory Aids Service. The selectee has a high visibility and a positive attitude and a motivation to expedite patient care and satisfaction are critical to accomplishing the VA mission. Often safety and health of the Veteran require expedited service. The incumbent receives and analyzes prosthetic request forms VA form 10-2431 and prescriptions (electronic Prosthetic consults) from physicians therapists, patients and patient representatives. Requests are reviewed for completeness, and proper documentation and justification of the items, services and durable equipment being requested. The diagnosis is compared to the equipment or services normally provided for the condition. The incumbent examines clinical health records and claims folders to determine legal eligibility and medical entitlement for prosthetic items and service based on criteria. Identifies priorities on pending requests to comply with mandated timeliness standards. Ensures that pending requests are posted to suspense logs and enters data to verify workload statistics used to determine Prosthetics funding.
Work schedule:
Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tour may be subject to change based on students class schedule and is at the discretion of management and Medical Center needs.

Internship Program:
To be eligible, applicants must be accepted for enrollment or currently enrolled and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) in a qualifying educational institution, on a full or half-time basis as defined by the institution in which you are enrolled.
To be eligible for this internship ALL of the following requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement
1. Be a U.S. Citizen;
2. Be at least 16 years of age;
3. Currently enrolled in degree or certificate program at a qualifying educational institution on a full or half-time basis. If you already graduated, you are not eligible for this program.
4. You must be in good academic standing and having a 2.0 GPA or higher (Provide current transcripts or proof of current)
5. Must maintain enrollment through-out internship.
6. Provide current transcripts or proof of current enrollment/acceptance letter;
7. Successfully complete a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment
8. Use of Direct Deposit required
9. Required to sign a Pathways Participant Agreement
You may qualify based on education and/or experience as described below:
Grade Qualifications:
For the GS-05 grade level you must possess one of the following:
Completed four academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree. (Transcripts required).
OR-
One full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 level in the Federal service performing the following duties: Carrying out a variety of office work to include compiling and updating data, mail outs; and providing customer service support by answering telephone calls and receiving visitors to the reception area and immediate offices.
OR-
A combination of education and specialized experience as described above which when combined are equivalent to 100% of the qualification requirement. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. (Transcripts
