Job Description

The Office of School Health's Adolescent Health Unit (AHU) manages, among other programs, in-school reproductive health programs at the high-school level. These programs include: 1) the School–Based Health Clinics Reproductive Health Program (SBHC RHP), which offer comprehensive primary care services that encompass mental and reproductive health, including the onsite distribution of hormonal and long-acting reversible contraceptives as critical components of adolescent health care services; 2) Connecting Adolescents to Comprehensive Healthcare (CATCH) Program, which offers in-school pregnancy tests, emergency and hormonal contraception, and referrals for reproductive health care by OSH staff in school medical rooms; 3) the Foster Care Initiative, which aims to increase access to sexual and reproductive health services including contraception to NYC foster care youth with a focus on youth attending NYC public high schools and 4) the OSH Mental Health Roadmap Training Program, which works with over 50 community based organizations/agencies, and aims to support and strengthen the skills of mental health providers working in NYC Public Schools participating in OSH's programs/initiatives.

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

The Program Coordinator for Training & Technical Assistance will provide administrative and programmatic support for the Office of School Health's Adolescent Health Program.

Specifically, responsibilities will include but not be limited to the Adolescent Health Program's comprehensive Training and Technical Assistance unit who provide direct services to a community of 159 School Based Health Centers operating in NYC public schools.

Coordinate and monitor the delivery of over 150 trainings and workshops to a multi-disciplinary team of over 500 School Based Health Center staff (physicians, nurse practitioner, nurses, clerical, health education and mental health) working in 159 School Based Health Centers in NYC public schools.

Coordinates the locations, venues and identifies community-based organizations to sponsor over 150 trainings/year. Works closely with community-based organizations to identify appropriate caterers that comply with NYC DOHMH catering requirements.

Provide other logistical support to the OSH Training Director to ensure delivery of training materials and job aides for all sponsored workshops and trainings.

Coordinate all workshop registration and workshop communications with the multi-disciplinary community of School Based Health Center staff.

Prepares individualized training registration portfolios to enable the Adolescent Health Program to monitor and track participation in mandatory trainings and educational activities for all SBHC staff in NYC public schools.

Coordinates and oversees the procurement of requisite program materials via print jobs and purchases and other material orders (log books, file folders and hanging file folders, etc.) through the DOHMH or through the Fund for Public Health New York (FPHNY), in support of the various community-facing programs.

Participate in scheduled trainings to interface with the School Based Health Center community, and to trouble shoot as needed at all scheduled community workshops/events.

Perform difficult work in the preparation of planning documents required for funding. This includes maintaining detailed inventory of program-related files, vendor invoices and other OTPS expenses.

Perform related work by assisting with special projects as needed, including assisting in preparation of training evaluation reports.

Manage Adolescent Health Program's personnel access to group faxes, shared inboxes and shared calendars.

Make recommendations on policies and procedures related to Training and Technical Assistance.

Minimum Qual Requirements

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or

High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or

Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in 1 above.

Preferred Skills

Excellent organizational and logistical skills; advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office; basic knowledge of reproductive health; ability to maintain good public relations and to communicate effectively with other DOHMH staff, school staff and community partners from a wide range of cultural, social and economic backgrounds.
