This position will be located at the National Guard Bureau in Arlington, Virginia.

This position will be filled on a permanent basis.

Responsibilities

Serves as the Logistics Assistance Representative on a full range of ammunition logistics issues regarding conventional, rocket, and guided missile ammunition systems and other select commodities

Provides technical and policy advice/assistance on ammunition and stockpile reliability programs

Recommends changes that will produce long-term solutions to significant ammunition logistics problems/deficiencies

Analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of ammunition logistics programs and operations

Coordinate, and recommend solutions to problems with reliability, bottlenecks, supply, and deficiencies affecting Class V mission

Interprets ammunition and other selected commodity policies and procedures

Coordinates with internal and external staff elements in order to facilitate, resolve, and assist units in the resolution of identified ammunition logistics issues

Travel Required

50% or less - Business travel may be up to 50% of the time.

This position has been designated as non-critical sensitive as defined in DoD 5200.2-R, and requires you to possess, or obtain and maintain for the duration of employment, a Secret security clearance

This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. The incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019 and must pass urinalysis testing, as required, prior to appointment and periodically thereafter

Position requires a valid stateside driver's license to obtain a military or international driver's license

This position is designated as Emergency-Essential (E-E) and is subject to requirements prescribed in AMC-R 700-19 and AR 690-11

This position supports the Department of the Army's mobilization and wartime mission and is considered E-E

This position is subject to mandatory direct placement in support of worldwide rotations by HQs, Joint Munitions Command

Assignments to duty stations within the Continental United States. Assignments to Overseas assignments (OCONUS) to include Panama, Alaska and Hawaii will be limited to 5 consecutive years, unless otherwise approved by LAP management

When leaving positions in CONUS to accept an overseas assignment, reemployment rights will be in accordance with Public Law 86-585 (10 USC 1586). When this occurs management will notify affected OCONUS employees as far in advance as possible

LAP positions cannot be filled by Reserve Component members who are subject to recall to active duty

Occupant of position is required to report their military recall status to effect removal from the Ready Reserve or exemption from the retiree call-up

Position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Civilian personnel of the Department of Defense are not exempt from this provision. Selectee will be required to sign a form acknowledging understanding of this provision

Experience required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as: provide technical and policy advice and/or assistance to assigned units in your area of responsibility on a full range of ammunition logistics issues; perform duties as a logistical advisor on Class V (i.e., ammunition, explosives, pyrotechnics, missiles, and other items); serve as the primary consultant on logistical issues for ammunition and other selected commodities; assist supported units in resolving problems with supplied new procurement and stockpile ammunition/commodities; advise senior-level commanders and unit personnel on proper Class V logistics procedures to include the use of comprehensive guidelines and technical/supply publications This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
