Responsibilities

The primary purpose of the position is to perform recurring building and or utility maintenance and operation duties and to assist journeymen and other higher-graded workers. The incumbent utilizes knowledge and skills with primary work dealing with the following: water plant operation and waste-water lift station, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, roofing and masonry. Incumbent performs a variety of work in the maintenance and repair of buildings, including laborer grounds work, and transporting materials and supplies to the work site. Incumbent must be able to operate a forklift and backhoe.

As part of site support team, assists with special projects periodically as directed. Maintains clean, safe, and orderly work sites. Job requires strong work ethics and safe working practices.

You will be required to submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test result prior to appointment. In addition, this position is subject to random testing for illegal drug use.

You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required. You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record. You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.

You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.

You may be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime.

You must possess and maintain a current Class D Oklahoma water/wastewater operator certificate, upon entry on duty. Please indicate the level of certification you currently possess.

You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 2 nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.

Qualifications

Applicants must be physically fit, and as required in Office of Personnel Management Qualifications Handbood X-118C, available for review on OPM's website at ****. A specific length of time and experience is not required; however you must be able to demonstrate the experience shown in your written application, that you possess sufficient knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the duties of the position without more than normal supervision. Examples of experience for this position may include specialized experience that demonstrates the ability to perform electrical tasks such as replacing light switches and household light fixtures, assisting electrician when pulling wire in conduit and installing electric boxes, concrete and plaster touch up around existing historic and other masonry structures. Knowledge of settling, floating and troweling concrete to the finish required. Prepare a vail with lathing or wire mesh for a fibered plaster or construction plaster (white top). Experience using hand tools relating to plastering and concrete work such as shovels, hoes, trowels of all types, rakes, bull floats, edgers and hawks. Experience using gas and electric cement mixers. Has performed work related to pretreatment and primary treatment performed and secondary treatment of wastewater, which promotes bacteriological growth that is used to feed on non-settling solids. Experience performing water treatment tests to check items such as pH level, turbidity, and fluoride and chloride content using ethylometers and pH meters to take measurements and adds silicates and chemical agents such as chlorine, fluoride, and manganese into the water system. Experience in operating truck, bobcat, front end loader and dump truck. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

Physical Demands: Physical effort is heavy to moderate, and requires occasional lifting or handling of objects or materials up to 50 pounds, unassisted, following proper lifting procedures to avoid injury. Frequently required to stand while working, climb ladders or scaffolding, and bend, stoop, climb, and work in awkward positions.

Working Conditions: Exposure to a variety of seasonal weather conditions while working outdoors (temperatures -40 to 90 degrees). Subject to danger of falling from ladders or scaffolding. Exposure to dust, dirt, wind, and rain. May work with dangerous chemicals and around moving equipment; paints, solvents, etc. May be exposed to electrical shocks, and biting insects.
