Summary
This position is part of the WHS Facilities Services Directorate, located in Alexandria, VA.
The Pentagon Building Management Office is responsible for day-to-day operation and maintenance of the Pentagon, which has a gross floor area of 6,546,360 square feet and which houses approximately 25,000 Federal employees assigned to 14 agencies of the Department of Defense. The tenants of the Pentagon include Cabinet level officers, heads of agencies and commissions and high ranking officers of the Army, Navy and Air Force who are responsible for planning and directing our country's national, defense programs and operations from the Pentagon. The incumbent serves as a Maintenance Mechanic, responsible for performing lead and asbestos abatement work, roof repairs and General Building maintenance. The incumbent is assigned to Pentagon Structural Systems Program(PSSP) under the general supervision of the Foreman who assigns work orally and by written work order, guidelines include manufacturers specifications, material and building and electrical codes, regulations and policies regarding building operation. Repair and maintenance, Federal safety regulations and policies, EPA and State regulations, policies and procedures for handling of and disposal of lead and asbestos, and for testing areas for lead and asbestos contamination.

Responsibilities
As a MAINTENANCE MECHANIC, WG-4749-8/10, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision:
Perform a wide variety of carpentry duties to include framing and Sheet-rock repair, painting, caulking, and glazing where accuracy, close fit, structural soundness, and appearance are essential (e.g., framework, rafters, doors, finished paneling, windows, interior and exterior trim, staircases, trusses, and beams).
Mix and pour concrete in forms or uses ready-mixed concrete on large jobs.
Perform all tasks related to the safe Abatement/removal of asbestos material such as: soaking, spraying, scraping, bagging, containerizing for transport vacuuming, cleaning and spraying of encapsulates (paints and sealants), and erection and dismantling of asbestos personnel decontamination station.
Perform a variety of repairs to the locking devices, horizontal tracing both bottom and top roller guides, vertical locking devices, and all other components parts of extra large doors.

Qualifications
Your background must demonstrate a full range of maintenance Mechanic tasks including operating, repairing, and maintaining buildings and building support systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical and structural systems; interpreting mechanical, electrical and structural drawings and blueprints; applying techniques for masonry, carpentry, painting, glazing, roofing.
EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume or OF-612. Required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
Frequently lifts, carries, and sets up tools, equipment, and parts that weigh 50 to 100 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is done inside and outside and is usually noisy, dirty, greasy, or smoky. Exposed to the possibility of broken bones, electrical shock, bums, welding flashes, and falling from ladders. Exposed to the possibility of cuts and bruises. Subject to fumes while working with paints and solvents. Subject to extreme weather conditions. May be required to wear protective clothing and equipment that may be confining, restricting, and uncomfortable
