The Management Operations Directorate, Protective Services Division (Code 240) seeks a Physical Security Specialist with responsibility for performing duties in the areas of physical security and information system security, access control, intrusion detection and Closed Circuit Television (CCTV).

Responsibilities

As the Physical Security Specialist, you will conduct physical, and security information system program

evaluations. Independently assess new methods, criteria and/or policies for security plans involving physical access to grounds by employees, vendors, and government personnel; access systems; clearance records and controls; fences; alarms; intrusion detection and other electronic devices; security force levels and their duties, responsibilities, and response times; special room construction including vaulting, shielded cable, and wiring requirements; and other means of security design and engineering.

You will contribute to the planning, development and implementation of a comprehensive physical security program designed to protect GSFC personnel, facilities and information. Serve as a representative and liaison for security systems, physical security and access control systems, classified communications security database, sensitive compartmented information databases and others. Coordinate upgrades, changes or interfaces between Center and the Agency's infrastructure.

You will work with senior specialists and center managers to develop alternative strategies and assess tradeoffs between conflicting requirements, such as issues arising from the implementation of new or revised security practices. Perform oversight reviews to monitor program implementation and practices. Support security standards for program effectiveness and plans for multiple program or broad subject area evaluation. Analyze existing security program evaluation criteria procedures and guidelines and develops innovative new procedures.

Qualifications

You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade GS-11, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position

described above.

Specialized experience is experience in security; investigations, analyzing a variety of unusual conditions and problems. Experience in security information systems,

intrusion detection systems, and video surveillance system; experience in LENEL.

Applicants must possess the following Current License and/or Certification: LENEL Certified Expert (LCE) to receive consideration for this position applicants should ensure that their resume reflects possession of this Required Selective Factor. Proof of licensure and certification will be requested during the pre-employment process.
