Job Description

The Governance and Legislative Affairs Division is seeking to fill one General Administrative Supervisor/Coordinator position. This position will serve as the lead in business management for the Governance and Legislative Affairs Division and to provide support to the Legislative process and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) process for VDOT. This position will ensure that information from all sections flows smoothly to and from the Division. The selected candidate must provide guidance to staff to ensure administrative and fiscal tasks are prioritized and handled appropriately and provide organizational management services, analytical and technical support. This position will assist in Department legislative process functions by monitoring legislation of potential impact to the Department and monitoring General Assembly meetings. The selected candidate must assist with the daily functions of the FOIA process by maintaining a database for ongoing business process related to FOIA requests.

Minimum Qualifications

This position requires experience in administrative support duties, work flow analysis, project management, policy interpretation and application, and fiscal processes. Experience applying administrative principles and practices, financial program requirements, research methodologies and state government operations is also required. The selected candidate must have experience reflecting the ability to analyze data and reach logical conclusions and experience applying office policies, procedures and practices. Skill in the use of computers and software applications to include MS Office and financial management systems is also required. The ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required. The selected candidate will have the ability to interpret laws, regulations, policies and procedures and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of agency management and vendors.

Preferred Qualifications

Associates or Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business or Public Administration preferred; equivalent experience or training may substitute for a degree. The preferred candidate will have experience working with state contract administration, payroll, accounts payable and procurement, have knowledge of Cardinal and knowledge of the State legislative process.

Special Requirements

DMV and FBI fingerprint background checks are required.
