Attorney General Maura Healey is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Attorney General’s Antitrust Division as an Economic Analyst. The Antitrust Division protects the people, state agencies, and businesses of Massachusetts from anticompetitive practices and helps maintain and encourage a competitive and vibrant economy through fair and effective enforcement of antitrust laws.
Primary Duties: The Economic Analyst will assist attorneys in investigating alleged anticompetitive mergers and practices and in bringing law enforcement actions aimed at protecting Massachusetts consumers and our competitive free enterprise system. Responsibilities will include conducting economic and market research; economic analysis, including statistical modeling; assisting with interviews of market participants; evaluating economic theories, models, arguments, and evidence to aid in litigation and other legal review; collecting and analyzing data from government and other sources; reviewing documents; drafting memoranda and other documents; and managing constituent inquiries. The Economic Analyst will also be responsible for certain electronic case management tasks, including organizing and maintaining electronic files relating to investigations and litigation, as well as other roles to assist the antitrust team.
Position Type: Full-time/Exempt
Salary: $55,000 - $68,000, commensurate with experience.

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree, preferably in economics or a related field, knowledge of econometric methods, including logistic regressions, and experience with Stata, R, or similar statistical analysis software. A master’s degree in an economics field (or expected degree) is strongly preferred. Applicants must also have strong organizational and analytical skills; experience organizing, summarizing, and analyzing large datasets; good interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public; excellent written and oral communication skills; proficiency with office software and ability to learn document management software. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a connection to the people and communities we serve.
