Description Leads two or more Department survey parties or oversees contracted survey parties in a district for the purpose of determining boundaries and topography of real property and\/or oversees the compilation, update and maintenance of real property maps; provides analysis and technical assistance, support, coordination and advice for the development, implementation and maintenance of land surveying-related information technology\/systems (IT\/IS) and applications to include global positioning and geographic information systems (GPS\/GIS). Work requires contact with governmental and private entities. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct responsibility for the work product. Duties The essential duties for this job include: Analyzes field notes to resolve land boundary conflicts. Coordinates and schedules work with the\u00a0photogrammetry and aerial mapping surveys. Coordinates work with other sections and assists as requested. Identifies and defines parcels for use in transportation projects by using relevant elements of surveying, property description writing, mapping, law, research, measurement, analysis and computation. Provides support services for global positioning and geographic information systems and the Department's Regional Reference Points to include coordination of activities with other governmental agencies. Monitors department\/consultant survey work performance. Originates, signs and seals property descriptions and oversees setting of monument property corners. Oversees the compilation, update and maintenance of real property maps or mapping as defined by the Texas Board of Professional Land Surveying. Performs Global Positioning System (GPS), design and\/or construction surveying. Serves as a lead worker or project leader. Serves as expert witness for the state in court cases involving boundary disputes. Travels to identify, coordinate and prioritize future work. Traverses horizontal and vertical control points between GPS control points. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Licenses and Certifications The following Licenses and\/or Certifications are required for this job: TX Reg Prof Land Surveyor Safety Impact Certificate Valid Driver License Other Conditions: This is a Safety Impact position (either Safety Impact, Commercial Driver and\/or Vessel Crew Member) and will be subject to random drug testing. Must be registered by the State of Texas as a Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS). Conditions of Employment Safety Impact certifications are not required at the time of application. As required, the Safety Impact, Commercial Driver and\/or Vessel Crewmember certification(s) will be issued by TxDOT at the time of hire. Must pass a drug test prior to employment for commercial driver, safety\u00a0impact and vessel crewmember positions. Commercial drivers, safety impact employees and vessel crewmembers will be subject to additional drug and alcohol testing during employment. Required to work weekends and holidays. Required to work hours other than 8 to 5. Must attend work regularly and observe approved work hours.Required to work under exposure to inclement weather conditions. Required to wear personal protective equipment provided by employer and comply with all safety requirements. Must be able to report for duty within\u00a030 minutes\u00a0of notification on a 24-hour basis. Driver's record check will be conducted by the Department. Satisfactory driving records are required for driving state or personal vehicles and motor driven equipment to conduct agency business.
