Incumbents assigned to these positions are restricted to no more than 30 hours per week.
Essential Job Functions
Performs job analysis at locations throughout Los Angeles County to support the development of selection systems.
Develops or assists in the development of selection system components (e.g., written tests, performance test, structured interviews, weighted application blanks).
Develops or assists in the development, administration, and/or scoring of examinations.
Performs statistical analyses of data resulting from job analysis surveys, test administration, interviews, etc.
Assists in the development of training materials such as interviewer rater training.
Assists with various projects (e.g., surveys, process redesign or reengineering) as needed.
Observes, assists in, and performs selected tasks in preparation for greater independent operation in an assignment.
Acts and assists in acting as Departmental source of knowledge, interprets personnel or administrative policies and procedures, and prepares appropriate reports.
Assists in the formulation of solutions to more complex personnel or administrative problems including fact-finding investigative phase with gradually increasing emphasis on interpretive, analytical, and recommendation aspects of problems or segments of problems.
Collects and compiles statistics and prepares appropriate reports.
Participates in the solution of more complex personnel or administrative problems.
Coordinates or assists in the coordination of the work of a section with that of other sections, Departmental divisions, and/or other County departments, as required.
Participates in providing training and orientation to Department staff, as required.
Interprets and applies provisions of the Administrative Code, Salary Ordinance, Interpretive Manual, Departmental Policy and Procedures Manual, and the Civil Service Rules in the solution of problems related to the current assignment.
Graduation from anaccredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree* in Psychology or a related field - AND -
Completion of 12 semester or 16 quarter units** of graduate
coursework in advanced statistics and/or research methods, personnel selection, and test construction (psychometrics).
A valid California Class C Driver License*** is required to perform job-related essential functions. All applicants must possess a valid California Class C Drive License at the time of appointment.
Physical Class II - Light: Light physical effort which may include occasional light lifting to a 10 pound limit, and some bending, stooping or squatting. Considerable walking may be involved.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION
Successful applicants for positions that require driving must obtain and present a copy of his/her driving record from the California State Department of Motor Vehicles before final appointment. Applicants should not present a copy of their driving history until asked to do so by the hiring department. The County will make an individualized assessment of whether an applicant's driving history has a direct or adverse relationship with the specific duties of the job. License must not be currently suspended, restricted, or revoked. AN APPLICANT WHOSE DRIVING RECORD SHOWS THREE (3) OR MORE MOVING VIOLATIONS WITHIN THE LAST YEAR WILL NOTBE APPOINTED.
As part of this application process, applicants will be required to complete a supplemental questionnaire. The questionnaire contains a pre-investigative questionnaire which will be utilized as part of the background investigation process to ensure applicants meet the standards set forth by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Applicants who fail the pre-investigative questionnaire will be disqualified and will have to wait twelve (12) months from the date of the disqualification in order to reapply.
This examination will consist of anoral interview covering training, experience, and general ability to perform the duties of the position weighted 100%. As part of the interview, candidates will also be required to complete a brief writingexercise. Candidates who do not submit a writing sample will be disqualified from this examination.
CANDIDATES MUST ACHIEVE A PASSING SCORE OF 70% OR HIGHERON THE EXAMINATION IN ORDER TO BE PLACED ON THE ELIGIBLE LIST.
