The Health Department's Clinic Services Bureau
has openings for Senior Clinic Nurses
to serve as lead workers to clinic nursing staff and provide professional nursing care and services to patients and their families at one of its primary health care clinics.
The Bureau operates seven health care clinics, including the Alisal Health Center, Seaside Family Health Center, Marina Health Clinic and four outpatient clinics located in Salinas, which include the Family Practice Clinic, Internal Medicine Clinic, Women's Health Clinic, and Pediatric Clinic. The clinics offer care to the medically underserved in MontereyCounty.
The Eligible List established by this recruitment process will be used to fill current and future vacancies as they arise.
Examples of Duties
Train, assign, and review the work of Clinic Nurses, Medical Assistants, and other staff as assigned.
Coordinate, manage, and participate in triage of patients; write protocols for triage; review triage for appropriate referrals.
Provide case management for the most complex patients; educate patients on how to follow physician's orders; research available pharmacies for patients; coordinate follow-up services.
Assess, organize, and provide nursing care to patients in accordance with physician instructions and protocols.
Oversee the referral process to find specialists who can treat patients, locate transportation for patients to visit the specialists, coordinate ancillary services; work to overcome financial barriers to health care.
Examples of Experience/Education/Training
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to possession of a valid California Registered Nurse License and five years of nursing experience as a Registered Nurse, including experience and/or training in lead work or supervision.
Possess a current CPR Certification and maintain certification throughout employment.
Incumbents must continue to meet the legal requirements to practice as a Registered Nurse as determined by the California Board of Registered Nursing and continue to possess the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position as indicated above and as may change within the medical industry.
Ability to communicate effective in English and Spanish is required for some positions.
