Pathways Internship positions provide for development and training. Assignments become more responsible as incumbent increases knowledge and skills through work experience and academic training. At the full-performance level, you will be expected to:

Students will be involved with productive, hands-on job assignments as a Park Ranger.

Perform a wide variety of routine, repetitive tasks that require the application of simple work procedures within any of the functional areas of Interpretation, Visitor Protection and Services or Resource Management.

Apply the appropriate guidelines in the accomplishment of familiar tasks involving a variety of visitor oriented tasks to encourage the proper use and enjoyment of the park facilities or projects.

Participate in the collection and recording of information on items such as water quality and sediment samples, vegetation, noxious weed infestation, wildlife and fish populations, and erosion control and site rehabilitation problems.

Furnish information to visiting public concerning rules and regulations pertaining to facilities usage such as camping, fishing, boating, hunting, etc.

Conduct scheduled and special patrols of land and water areas, checking usage and conditions of public use areas, commercial docks, group camps, and other recreation areas, including safety, fire, sanitation, and maintenance.

Investigate and report to supervisor any trespasses or other violations; describe extent of problems and reports names of witnesses and/or trespassers when possible.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.

Housing and Transportation expenses will not be paid.

Who May Apply: Students who are eligible for participation in the Department of the Army Internship Program

Positions are open to current students pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate in an accredited high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution on at least a half-time basis (as defined by the institution in which the student is enrolled). Short-term training programs (e.g., several two-week programs completed) are not considered an academic course of study.

Internship for current students in good standing at an accredited education.

For this internship, you must be able to work full-time during the summer months (May - August). Part-time may be required during the school year.

To qualify for a Pathways Internship as a GS-02, students must have completed high school or a GED diploma.

The individual needs to have successfully completed one full year of post high school study (One full year is 30 semester hours)

To qualify for a Pathways Internship as a GS-04, students must have completed two full academic years of post-high school study or have an associate's degree.

Pathways Internship Program Requirements: Must be at least 17 years of age to operate motor vehicles on public roadways.

Must be currently enrolled in an accredited school.

Must be seeking a degree, diploma, or certificate (e.g., high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED), Vocational/ Technical Certificate, Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree, etc.)

Must be taking (at least) a half-time course load, as defined by the school.

Must have a cumulative and term GPA of 2.0 (without rounding).Must be in and accepted or enrolled student status until at least August 2018.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
