Responsibilities

You will check and operate large outlying pump stations for conveyance of wastewater plants.

You will comply with federal and state regulations when treating wastewater.

You will adhere with wastewater treatment plant safety, security procedures, and regulations to identify violations in accordance with guidelines.

You will lubricate and change oil in various pumps, compressors, blowers and valves as required by routine maintenance or identified problems.

You will record wastwater equipment operational performance conditions.

You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

Selectee will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Must possess a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade III certification issued by the Board of Certification of Operating Personnel in Wastewater Treatment Facilities in State of Hawaii (or equivalent).

Will be required to walk, stoop, crawl, crouch, kneel, bend, climb in and out of pump stations, wet wells, pits and treatment structures to meet mission requirements.

Will be required to work in the sludge drying beds that involves heavy laboring to dig, turn, and shovel Humus.

This position is subject to work alone as the Officer in Charge with recurring rotational shift work which include weekends and holidays to meet mission requirements.

Will be subject to infrequent exposure to a widevariety of acids, bases, hazardous chemicals, reagents and their dust, mists and vapors.

Will be required to work from ladders, catwalks, structure walls, pits, tanks, and confined or hazardous gas locations.

Will be required to carry weights up to 50 pounds for distances of 100 feet (unassisted).

Will be required to work outdoors and be subjected to varying tropical climate weather conditions.

Will be required to wear protection devices, equipment, and clothing such as face masks, rubber gloves, boots, and ear plugs.

Tour of duty will be 36 Months.
