This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, US Coast Guard, Industrial Department, Mechanical Group in Baltimore, MD.

Responsibilities

The incumbent will perform planning and estimating tasks for the marine industry trades by identifying labor, materials, and equipment to accomplish a wide variety of repairs, construction and renovation projects in the Industrial Department.

Being a civilian working for the U.S. Coast Guard makes you valuable member of the team.

Typical duties include:

* Analyzing work lists, project order outlines, engineering plans, specifications, correspondence, Engineering Change Requests, BOATALTS, Navy Technical manuals, blueprints and Bills of Material in connection with scheduled and emergency work projects.

* Preparing pipe systems cost estimates for man hours and materials by utilizing specific and/or general marine trade experience, historical files, parametric criteria, engineering and shop personnel.

* Issuing job orders, material schedules, procurement requests and controlled program material to begin work operations.

* Inspecting work in progress to assure that the materials needed are available and adequate, and that man hour estimates are accurate.

* Accomplishing the work of the Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR) for at least one major services contract.

* Conducting on-site ship inspections for the purpose of providing estimates and clarifying work requests, often on an emergency basis, requiring travel, several times a year.

* Compiling and analyzes return cost information for the purpose of establishing parametric values applicable to ongoing future production work. Performing credit card purchases with a government issued card on a continuing basis and maintains logs of purchases IAW applicable ISO standards and Federal Law.

At a minimum to confirm eligibility for purposes of appointment based on relocation under these provisions a spouse of a service member must provide a copy of the marriage certificate or other documentation verifying marriage and a copy of the military PCS orders assigning the service member to a certain post.
