Job Description
SUMMARY \rThe TANF Case Aide assists TANF clients by providing services and support that are necessary for the successful completion of the program. These services include but are not limited to assisting clients in receiving mental health and/or substance-abuse counseling, and various types of referral services that will assist in obtaining employment.  The Case Aide will also meet with IHC and participating TANF staffs to collaborate and coordinate client activities.\r\rESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.\r\r\r The Case Aide will assist in referring clients To Tribal TANF programs, welfare to work, Calfresh, and other related programs.\r Will assist in developing TANF Family Success plans.\r Will provide clients with a variety of support services necessary to successfully complete the program.  Such as providing transportation to services that support the TANF requirements and assisting with the application process.\r Will meet on as needed basis with IHC and TANF staffs to collaborate and coordinate client activities.\r Will collaborate with other IHC departments and outside agencies for the provision of treatment services and providing assistance to TANF clients.\r Facilitates needed referrals for clients to internal programs and outside agencies resources.\r Performs other duties as required.\r Must accurately track and report to the California Department of Social Services for quarterly reports.\r

Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS \rTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. \r\rEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE \r2 years’ experience in a social services field preferably in the mental health arena, or 2 years of community service experience.  Must have knowledge of American Indians and Indian values and practices. Must have good verbal and written communication skills, as well as good stress management and organizational skills. Must have knowledge of responsibilities involved in doing work that is highly confidential and the handling and processing of confidential information. Must have knowledge of the local area, in particular the Indian reservations, for the purpose of making home visits. Must have a clear understanding of appropriate cultural customs within this particular community.\r\rCERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:\rA valid California driver’s license and a good driving record will be required at the time  \r of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment.\r Driving is required for this position.\r CPR certification must be acquired within six months of appointment.   \r \rPHYSICAL DEMANDS\rEssential duties require potential employees to perform duties including but not limited to standing, sitting, walking short distances, lifting, reaching, etc.  Employee must be able to travel.  Applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment physical exam, tuberculin skin test or x-ray, and blood/urine screening test.  Health must be adequate to perform all duties of the position.\r\rCUSTOMER RELATIONS\r\r Responds promptly and with caring actions to patients and employees.  Acknowledge psychosocial, spiritual and cultural beliefs and honor these beliefs.\r Maintain professional working relationships with all levels of staff, clients and the public.\r Be part of a team and cooperate in accomplishing department/organizational goals and objectives.\r\r\rQUALITY MANAGEMENT\r\r Displays knowledge of normal signs of human development and ability to assess and provide age appropriate care\r Maintains client case files in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and IHC policies.\r\r\r Contribute to the success of the organization by participating in quality improvement activities.\r\rSAFETY\r\r Maintain current knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to safe work practices.\r Follow all safety procedures and report unsafe conditions.\r Use appropriate body mechanics to ensure an injury free environment.\r Be familiar with location if nearest fire extinguisher and emergency exits.\r Follow all infection control procedures including blood-borne pathogen protocols.\r\rHIPAA/COMPLIANCE\r\r Maintain privacy of all patient, employee and volunteer information and access such information only on a need to know basis for business purposes.\r Comply with all regulations regarding corporate integrity and security obligations.\r Report unethical; fraudulent or unlawful behavior or activity.\r Specify privileges and responsibilities of employment, including compliance with an adverse incident reporting system.\r
