This position is located at Food Leisure, Hospitality & Services Division aboard MCB Camp Pendleton. Candidates selected for this position will serve as a Deputy Director Food, Leisure, Hospitality & Services for MCCS.

Assists the FLHS Director in monitoring, directing and administering programs and goals for MCCS Food and Hospitality operations, to include full-service dining, theme facilities, nightclubs, lounge bars, catering, snack bars, mobile units, temporary lodging facilities (TLF), and food concessionaire operations. Advises the director in coordinating the efforts of food service managers and for providing overall management of all phases of food operation from initial determination of menus to its final prepared, consumable state. Supervises and manages division staff, operations, labor expenses, programs and activities that include Services, Hospitality, Direct/Indirect Food Operations, Special Events/Entertainment and Recreational Businesses. Facilitates the management of budgets, financial planning/forecasting and controls expenditures and construction/remodeling projects. Oversees the purchasing of foot items and supplies. Assists in the overall management of internal processing of invoices, requisitions, transfers, inventory reconciliation; labor cost analysis and financial viability determinations. May oversee food service support for festivals, recreational tournaments and for official functions of visiting dignitaries. Services as technical advisor on the establishment of contract food service facilities, direct and indirect operating standards, inspecting and ensuring technical contact compliance. Scope of Food & Hospitality operations, limited to direct food, beverage, and special event sales and revenue from TLF ranges over $6,500,000 annually.
Serves as a subject matter expert and direct advisor to the director for the assigned organizational division. Plans, organizes work, and manages internal procedures and resources to ensure maximum productivity and economies. Pursues action to ensure follow through on maximizing productivity and economies. Oversees preparation and approves internal office financial plans and related records and reports, and exercises authority on approved overall budget. Analyzes programs on a regular basis, and prompts initiation of corrective action to ensure support of operating programs of MCCS. Develops long-range plans in conjunction with internal operating directives, and exercises internal personnel management authorities as delegated by the FLHS Director. Directly or indirectly through subordinate supervisors supervises employees. Counsels and trains employees, schedules and directs work, appraises work performance. Approves or disapproves leave, and personnel actions. Must be alert to substance abuse and take appropriate action. Effectively supports the Marine Corps Equal Employment Opportunity and Sexual Harassment policies, and ensures compliance with fire, safety, and other environmental issues and programs. Oversees maintenance and enforcement of the security of resources and develops procedures to minimize the potential for fraud, waste and abuse. Supervises employees to include: assigning and distributing work, coaching, counseling, tutoring, and mentoring employees; approving and disapproving leave; recommending and completing personnel actions; completing performance reviews and signing timecards; training employees. Must be alert to alcohol abuse, and take appropriate action. Assists in developing and ensuring the implementation and control of an adequate, effective and appropriate training plan for all personnel.

BACHELOR’S DEGREE from an accredited college or university in business management or a related field appropriate to the work of position AND THREE YEARS of experience in the occupation, or a related field or work area, OR an appropriate combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of knowledge and skill equivalent to that gained in the above, OR appropriate experience that demonstrates that the applicant has acquired the knowledge, skills, and abilities equivalent to that gained in the above. Experience working within a customer service focused environment required. Two years of supervisory experience working in a leadership role related to store operations and performance metrics required. A thorough knowledge of business practices, economic principles and ability to analyze trends and make improvements. Must demonstrate the ability to deal effectively with superiors, subordinates, vendors, and the public. Must have oral and written communication skills, and ability to evaluate, negotiate and determine potentially and determine potentially successful vendors. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required.
