The primary purpose of this position is to serve as senior engineering technician to support the Requirements and Optimization and Customer Service functions in the maintenance and assessment of real property of the base.

Independently plans the method to portray and prepare, edit, and archives engineering drawings and data contained within involving original and complex designs for assigned projects or portions tasked.
Serves as liaison between the Contracting Officer and the Operations Engineer / Flight Leadership. Serves as a Contracting Officer?s Representative (COR).
Monitors and controls major segments of a variety of difficult and complex assigned contracted plans and specifications and in-house work tasks.
Focal point for independently tracking, monitoring and providing updates of the Operations Flight?s work management system by using multiple software applications such as NEXGEN IT.
Provides administrative support to the Flight through the administration of a government purchase card, DEAMS Financial document system user, BUILDER asset management system user and data steward/ assessor of building conditions.
Uses multidiscipline engineering technician skills to independently providing facility condition assessments.
Reviews the Visible Asset Sustainment Tool (VAST) Data submissions to accurately establish construction costs for repair. Focal point for work task close out and first step in archiving of as-built drawings.
Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience for GS-0802-09 position which includes technical work in: drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-08
Education: I have two full years of graduate education or a master's degree with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology. Note: You must submit copies of your official transcripts.
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. Creditable education will only be in excess of the first 60 semester hours of a course of study leading to a bachelor's degree which is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirements. Note: You must submit copies of your official transcripts.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the GS-08 or higher grade (or equivalent in an alternate pay system) within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referral. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Advanced knowledge of engineering concepts, methods, principles, and techniques; familiarity with engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, structural, utilities, etc.). Advanced knowledge of symbols, terminology, and accepted standards used in engineering drawings. Knowledge of the operations of reproduction machines, facilities, and systems of multi-discipline civil, mechanical, electrical, and architectural engineering disciplines using architectural/graphic design software to accomplish unusually difficult drafting assignments.
2. Knowledge of methods and techniques of engineering principles, analytical and diagnostic methods, mathematical computations using standardized tables and formulas procedures, principles and surveying methods, equipment, and techniques of measurements or determination of distances, elevations, areas, angles, land boundaries, and other features of the earth's surface. Ability to plan and record site/facility surveys and inspections.
3. Ability to prepare original and complex drawings that are neat, accurate, appropriately dimensioned, and logically arranged, utilizing the methods and techniques of drafting; and print neatly and legibly, both freehand and with mechanical lettering devices.
4. Advanced knowledge of multi-discipline engineering and architectural plans and specification to read and interpret construction requirements safety practices and procedures in the construction industry.
5. Advanced ability to compute construction costs, negotiate changes to contracts, and use computer based programs to record and maintain information involving these activities.
6. Knowledge of standard construction practices / techniques and contracting regulations, practices, and procedures.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
