Summary
The Tomah VAMC is seeking a board certified physician in Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Psychiatry or related field to serve 50% as the ACOS-E (Associate Chief of Staff for Education) and 50% as the Research Committee Officer (RCO). A minimum of 2 years' experience in the management of educational programming and Research are highly desired. The ACOS-E will be responsible for overseeing the entire trainee experience for all health professionals in non-nursing disciplines to include relatively new psychiatry and psychology residency programs, as well as develop additional residency programs as appropriate. The ACOS-E is responsible to set standards and policies, ensure compliance with oversight organizations, manage the clinical training program affiliations, organize Grand Rounds and ensure CMEs are granted for presentations, and to address and resolve all trainee-related issues. The ACOS-E will maintain trainee grids and schedules and ensure a streamlined on-boarding process for trainees.
The ACOS-E/RCO incumbent must have strong leadership and interpersonal skills, be a team player, and be attentive to detail. The incumbent will report directly to the COS.

Responsibilities
Develop a research program at the Tomah VAMC and manage the program once started.
Work closely with the Facility Director and Chief of Staff (COS) to provide guidance and counsel on incorporating research compliance activities into the day-to-day operations of the facility.
Conduct routing and reviews and other performance improvement activities to promote compliance, reduce violations of regulations and standards, identify unsatisfactory trends and conditions, and correct factors that may contribute to non-compliance.
Perform ongoing audits when applicable in: human subject, animal subject, and scientific research, as well as credentialing and privileging.
Monitor and audit reports timely, accurately, and completely and provided to facility leadership and others by the RCO in accordance with VHA requirements.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.
