This is a GG-12 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-12 duties for the Professional work category are at the Full Performance work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-12 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job.

This is an INTERDISCIPLINARY position that may be filled as a GG-0854-12 Computer Engineer; GG-1501-12 Data Scientist; GG-1550-12 Computer Scientist
The primary purpose is to serve as Data Scientist for the Analytic Environment Team (AET) in the Research and Development Flight (GSIR)
Conducts research and analysis to facilitate production and technology development activities in the Analytic Environment Program.

Assess and shares results of evaluations, via reports and briefings, to internal and external parties to include representing NASIC in national-level meetings and conferences.
Coordinates with and advises the AET Program Lead in order to ensure integration of analytic approaches into the development of analytic software/tools.
Provides technical support to the Contracting Officer's Representative to meet contracts cost, schedule, and performance requirements.

All new DCIPS employees are required to complete a two-year DCIPS trial period.
Position is designated critical-sensitive and incumbent must be able to obtain and retain a TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
PCS expenses is not authorized will be paid IAW JTR and Air Force Regulations
Work may require travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of temporary duty.

This position is Acquisition Category S (SPRDE Systems Engineer, Level II; and incumbent must meet appropriate certification requirements IAW the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act no later thatn 24 months after accepting this position

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: 0854 COMPUTER ENGINEER
Successfully completed a professional engineering degree: The curriculum must be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum or include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT COPIES OF YOUR OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: 1501 DATA SCIENTIST
Requires a Bachelor's degree in computer science or a bachelor's degree IN Mathematics, statistics or actuarial science. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT COPIES OF YOUR OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS.
Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study as shown above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: 1550 COMPUTER SCIENTIST
Requires a Bachelor's degree in computer science or a bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. Courses designed to provide an introduction to computer science techniques and methodologies, to problems of system design, and to other specialized fields are acceptable. Courses or experience in teaching elementary business, or shop mathematics are not acceptable. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT COPIES OF YOUR OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS.

Quality experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Examples of creditable experience include: Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and practices involved in physics, engineering, mathematics, and/or physical sciences to perform studies, modify standard practices, and/or resolve issues related to the planning, development, fielding, and sustainment of complex GEOINT data processing and exploitation techniques. Knowledge of the Research and development Flight mission requirements and functional areas such as continuity of operational mission, strategic planning, and future operational mission. Knowledge of Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR) responsibilities with strong project management skills to include demonstrated experience in the best practices of technology and end-item deliverables development for complex GEOINT data processing and exploitation techniques to enable the employee to oversee and evaluate all aspects of the system being acquired. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Professional knowledge of and ability to implement principles from operations research, data science, statistics, rigor, systems thinking and analysis, as well as stochastic modeling and probabilistic reasoning strategies in order to answer complex problems about unstructured and structured data sets.
2. Knowledge of administrative aspects of contracts and software licenses, to include procurement policies, preparation of work statement and development plans, cost estimating, etc.
3. Knowledge and understanding of agency, AF, DoD, and national -level doctrine, regulations, policies, guidelines, requirements, and initiatives related to assigned program(s) and/or project(s).
4. Skill in computer programming language (e.g. Python, R). Skill in working independently and in group settings to accomplish designated tasks.
5. Skill in communicating effectively with others in working out solutions to problems or questions, writing clear and concise products, delivering written and verbal presentations to senior level audiences for decision-making purposes, and ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in order to produce highly technical reports, position papers, and briefings which are appropriate for the intended audience, and to maintain and interact effectively with all levels of government and contractor management.
