Job Summary: Performs facilities-related functions including, but not limited to, installation, repairs and maintenance on plumbing and water systems. Key Activities: \u2022 Assists senior technicians in all phases of various facilities-related assignments including renovations, repairs and maintenance projects; independently manages small-scale projects or portions of large projects by coordinating work with project leads or supervisor. PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE & REPAIRS: \u2022 Independently performs complex repair and maintenance of various systems and equipment with minimal supervision. Pipe-Fitter: Includes, but is not limited to, routine maintenance, repair and installation of piping, valves, pumps, water heaters, boilers, and related equipment. Also includes routine maintenance and minor repair of fire sprinkler protection systems. \u2022Inspect\/ monitor\/and troubleshoot building systems. \u2022 Monitors and maintains automated preventive maintenance system; works with staff to ensure maintenance is performed as scheduled. CUSTOMER SERVICE \/ WORK REQUESTS: \u2022 Responds independently to complex service calls and work order requests. TRAINING \/ GUIDANCE: \u2022 Provides training and guidance to other technical staff on areas of expertise. Pipe-Fitter: Incudes knowledge of water and wastewater fixtures, filtration, piping and pumping systems. CONTRACT DEVELOPMENT & MANAGEMENT: \u2022 Provides input to senior technicians or other department staff in developing project scopes and technical specifications. \u2022 Coordinates work with outside contractors and vendors on small- to mid-scale projects with minimal supervision. \u2022 Works with minimal supervision. \u2022 Plumbing Tech: Completes installation and troubleshooting of plumbing systems with minimal direction. Qualifications: \u2022 High school diploma or equivalent. Associates degree or vocational training in pipefitter\/plumbing field is preferred (equivalent military experience\/training is acceptable). \u2022 Four to six years of experience in plumbing and pipefitting or equivalent military experience. \u2022 Strong project coordination \/management skills. \u2022 Strong ability to operate portable power tools (e.g.,drills, saws, etc.), table saws, grinders, and non-powered hand tools. \u2022 Strong troubleshooting skills. \u2022 Ability to read and understand manufacturers\u2019 warnings, labels, instructions, and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). \u2022 Strong ability to read and properly interpret blueprints and project plans. \u2022 Good computer skills, including but not limited to internet application and operating all computer equipment associated with assigned equipment or systems. \u2022 Strong attention to detail. \u2022 Strong customer service skills. \u2022 Good oral communication and interpersonal skills. \u2022 Must be able to effectively document changes made to systems, equipment, or the structure. \u2022 Ability to multitask and use time efficiently to meet project deadlines. \u2022 Strong ability to identify procedural improvements, make suggestions, and assist in implementing changes. \u2022 Availability to be on-call as required and work 2nd, 3rd or weekend shift depending upon primary area of assignment. (75% of this time will be during non-standard business hours) \u2022 Pipe-Fitter: Journeyman pipefitter or specialized training in plumbing or fire sprinkler protection systems.
