JOB TITLE:PublicSafety Officer REPORTS TO: Public Safety
Manager POSITION SUMMARY : Under the direction of the Public Safety Manager\/Director\/or Supervisor,
the Public Safety Officer (PSO) will assume all duties assigned that insure the
protection of Victor Valley Global Medical Center, its assets, business, and
property.In addition, the PSO will be
responsible for the safety of employees, patients, and visitors while on hospital
property.The PSO shall maintain professional
working relations with staff, patients, visitors, vendors, Law Enforcement and
all local First Responders.The PSO will
be responsible for performing security related duties (i.e. regular patrols of
the property; Emergency Room and\/or Main Entrance posting for security
intervention and observation; employee escorts to vehicles; responding to
hospital Codes; making citizen arrests
when necessary, completing daily and incident reports, assist with emergency
preparedness exercises; video surveillance).It is important the Public Safety Officer develops a good working
relationship with all staff and maintains a positive, professional attitude and
appearance while on duty and in Public Safety Uniform.Based
on performance and experience, a PSO may be assigned a lead PSO position that
is responsible for a crew of PSO Officers under the direction of the Public
Safety Director and\/or Public Safety Manager.The lead PSO will be ensure all shift duties are carried out
appropriately, and that all shift PSO\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s turn in their required reports prior to
end of shift.The lead PSO will look
over these reports prior to turning in paperwork to the Public Safety Manager. Performs all other duties as assigned. EDUCATION\/EXPERIENCE :High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
1-3 years experience a security officer or security guard required. One year
hospital security experience preferred. Basic knowledge of a computer and
report writing is required.Previous Law
Enforcement, Corrections, PC 832, and\/or Administration of Justice degree or
classes preferred. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: BSIS Guard Card required upon hire. MAB
within 90 days from date of hire. BLS within 30 days from hire. HICS courses IS
100, 200, 700, and 800 will be completed within the first two years of
employment. Haz Mat Certifications preferred.
