Summary

This job opportunity is for an Operations Officer located in the Support Services Branch (SSB) of the U.S. Census Bureau's National Processing Center (NPC). The incumbent serves as Chief, Warehousing and Transportation Section responsible for a support operation including functions such as materials handling, motor vehicle management, records management and publication storage, control and distribution.

Tour of Duty: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. No Alternate Work Schedule or other flexible work schedules are available.

Responsibilities

The individual selected for this position is responsible for:

Planning, developing, coordinating and managing on a nationwide basis centralized property, traffic and supply programs and participating in and arranging for the procurement of all materials, equipment, and services required for current programs and major census operations.

Serving as NPC's liaison to Headquarters and Regional Offices on matters related to supply, property and traffic programs. Providing guidance and advice regarding property requirement determinations, technical evaluation of supply and equipment procurement, space planning, capital equipment budgets, traffic management, storage and distribution procedures, property accountability and property disposal.

Developing immediate and long range plans for current program and major census supply, traffic, transportation, labor support, and property.

Preparing recommendations for upper management on space, staffing, and equipment requirements. Presenting plans to NPC and Headquarters management officials as necessary.

Time-in-Grade: In addition to specialized experience, you must meet the time-in-grade requirement. Specialized Experience:

Examples include: Recommending improvements and overseeing the implementation of program changes; Performing tasks related to procedure development, human resources, long range planning, budgeting and monitoring of operations.

Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
