Job Description VMI is accepting applications for User Services Specialist & Reserves Manager for Preston Library\u00e2??s User Services Department. Position will apply knowledge of policies and complex automation systems to circulation of library materials and manage the course reserves service. The specialist also assists with training and supervising cadet assistants while helping to maintain the physical order of the library. The successful candidate will wear civilian attire and work Monday \u00e2?? Friday 8am \u00e2?? 4:30pm. This is a fulltime position. Responsibilities and Duties: Perform the following in conjunction with other Preston Library team members: \u00e2?\u00a2Provide direct user services at the library\u00e2??s Service Desk. Staff the Service Desk and represent Preston Library and VMI to all who enter the building. \u00e2?\u00a2Apply knowledge of policies and complex automation systems to provide efficient and effective services to cadets, faculty, staff, and other library users. \u00e2?\u00a2For all formats, manage the reserves service and the reserves collection ensuring the service functions effectively. Work courteously, accurately and with professionalism with colleagues and faculty. \u00e2?\u00a2Manage the Holds service, monitoring holds, mediating process for the best possible outcome, as well as coordinate with Interlibrary Loan requests related to holds. \u00e2?\u00a2Assist with hiring, training and supervision of cadet assistants, giving appropriate feedback on their job performance. \u00e2?\u00a2Help to maintain the physical order of the library to maintain good library organization. \u00e2?\u00a2Serve as backup within the User Services Department, using knowledge of departmental operations, applications, and networks to ensure the department functions smoothly at all times. Apply knowledge of a broad range of associated software and systems. \u00e2?\u00a2Reasonable flexibility to adjust schedule. \u00e2?\u00a2Perform other duties and assignments as directed. Minimum Qualifications \u00e2?\u00a2High School diploma. \u00e2?\u00a2Experience working in an academic library or higher education information center \u00e2?\u00a2Customer service experience and positive attitude. \u00e2?\u00a2Understanding and ability to explain policies and procedures in a coherent and customer-oriented manner. \u00e2?\u00a2Experience using an integrated library systems and related technology. \u00e2?\u00a2Ability to work as part of a team. \u00e2?\u00a2Proven skills in collaboration within and across departments. \u00e2?\u00a2Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. \u00e2?\u00a2Must be able to work scheduled days and hours. \u00e2?\u00a2Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Preferred Qualifications \u00e2?\u00a2Bachelor\u00e2??s degree. \u00e2?\u00a2Supervisory experience. \u00e2?\u00a2Collections, inventory and\/ or reserves experience. \u00e2?\u00a2Good organizational and interpersonal skills Salary based on qualifications and experience.
