Chief Geriatrician Opportunity on Long Island, NY

The Northport, NY Veterans Affairs Medical Center is recruiting for an Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS) for our Geriatrics and Extended Care Services.
You will serve as the executive expert for Geriatric and Extended Care programs throughout the Medical Center, including Community and Home Based programs. The ACOS for Geriatrics and Extended Care has programmatic responsibility for planning, developing, and directing the administrative and operational activities for the Geriatrics and Extended Care programs within the Medical Center. This physician is the Medical Director of the Community Living Centers and has oversight for the Hospital Based Home Care Program, Adult Day Health Care, Respite, Palliative Care, Contract Homemaker, Home Health Aide and other programs that fall within the purview of Extended Care.
You will provide core leadership encompassing all aspects of the Geriatrics and Extended Care, including the Community Living Centers, outpatient Geriatric and Palliative Care clinics and home and community based programs. You will maintain an active clinical workload through inpatient and outpatient direct patient care.
The ACOS oversees the training provided to the medical students, residents and fellows within Geriatrics and Extended Care. He/She will encourage continuing education to promote ongoing professional competence of the Geriatrics and Extended Care staff and facilitate interdisciplinary team development involving other services. You will work very close with the Department of Geriatric Medicine at the State University of Stony Brook and other academic affiliates.
Current board certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatric Medicine and or Palliative Medicine. Geriatric certification highly preferred
. Minimum of five years
of experience in executive leadership/management experience in complex setting.
