This is a Term position NTE 13 months. The individual selected for this position may be extended without further competition. The primary purpose of this position is: To provide a student trainee who has been appointed to the Pathways Program with on-the-job training and guidance to further student technical development.
Performs selected tasks and phases of routine studies and projects that require application of basic occupational field theory and principles in the technical area of engineering.
Participates with senior personnel in conducting non-routine projects.
Provides assistance in planning, monitoring, and conducting special studies, projects, and initiatives.

PLEASE NOTE: This is not a developmental opportunity, this position may be filled at the: GS-04 grade level depending on applicant qualifications and organizational requirements. The individual selected for this position may be considered for promotion to a higher grade without further competition upon meeting all legal and regulatory/program requirements.

If for S&E 0899 Series: Seeking a professional engineering degree. The curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

To qualify for a GS-04: 60 or more semester hours or 90 or more quarter hours leading to a baccalaureate degree and a 2.95 cumulative GPA from an accrediated or other non-profit institution of higher education

You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. This is a Pathways Student Internship opportunity managed by the Force Renewal Program and centrally funded by the Air Force's Central Salary Account (CSA). The Internship offers valuable work experience directly related to your academic field of study. This is your opportunity to begin a successful Federal civilian career with the United States Air Force. As an Intern, you will be given the opportunity to gain the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to pursue a successful career with the US Air Force and upon completing your degree and meeting conversion eligibility requirements, be eligible for placement in a permanent position. However, it is important to remember that eligibility for conversion does not guarantee you will be offered a permanent position. The length of Internship is normally two years or when you complete your academic program and degree requirements.
This internship is to provide a learning opportunity for a student enrolled in a field of study relating to their career path, to enhance their future goals and improve their knowledge with work experience in a working environment
