The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Motor Vehicle Administration (MDOT MVA) is seeking a dynamic, progressive candidate for the position of MVA Investigator.

The MVA Investigator is the journey level of work conducting investigations of private citizens based on allegations of failure to comply with Motor Vehicle regulatory law; and investigations of motor vehicle dealers, salespersons, producers and distributors, auto recyclers, driving schools, and motor vehicle service companies to ensure compliance with applicable motor vehicle laws and regulations. Employees in this classification do not supervise. Employees receive supervision from an MVA Section Manager, or other designated administrative authority. Extensive travel throughout the State of Maryland is required. The position is located at the MVA Headquarters in Glen Burnie, MD.

Qualifications

Education

:     Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience

:    Four (4) years of experience conducting investigations in one or a combination of the following areas: claims investigations, law enforcement, security services.

Note

:  Additional education at an accredited college of university may be substituted at the rate of thirty (30) credit hours for one (1) year of experience with at least twelve (12) credits in law enforcement or criminal justice.

Licenses & Certifications

Employees in this classification are assigned duties that require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

Additional Information

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

1.    Employees in this classification are considered Essential Employees and will be required to adhere to all policies and procedures relating to Essential Employee status.

2.    Employees are subject to emergency recall 24 hours a day and will be required to maintain a reliable communication link (telephone or pager) for the purpose of emergency call back.

3.    Candidates will be subject to pre-employment drug testing in accordance with the Transportation Code of Maryland Regulations 11.02.11, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.

4.    Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Transportation Code of Maryland Regulations 11.02.11, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
