This position will provide administrative support to the VHA Office of Procurement and Logistics. This announcement is only open to candidates eligible under the Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP).
Duties include, but are not limited to: Receiving and screening telephone calls and visitors.
Reviewing all incoming and outgoing correspondence involving highly complex, technical and confidential matters for clarity, completeness of reply and procedural correctness.
Preparing and composing various kinds of correspondence to include memorandums, reports, policies, congressional and VHA responses, issue briefs and budget reports.
Assisting in the summarization of reports, financial data and in the periodic VACO administrative and statistical reviews.
Preparing data reports to be used to plan budgets, determine obligations and prepare for new programs.
Completing and distributing meeting and conference schedules.
Scheduling meetings, including arranging for space, preparing the agenda and minutes.
Arranging travel and developing itineraries for staff.
Performing timekeeping functions.
Managing overall supply needs, services, material movement, and real property for the office.
Assisting with the administrative parts of Human Resources issues, documents and requests.
Searching for, assembling and summarizing information from files or directives in anticipation of the needs of the program.

Grade Requirement
: For CTAP, applicants must hold or have held in the past the grade for which applying GS-09. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 showing your grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.

Specialized Experience:
CTAP candidates must be found to be well qualified for referral. This is defined as meeting the specialized experience and any selective placement factor for this position. You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-08 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization as a GS-09. The specialized experience for this position is: composing and editing correspondence; coordinating the work of an office; maintaining appointment calendars; records management; serving as timekeeper; making travel arrangements; ordering supplies; compiling data for reports; scheduling conferences and meetings; taking meeting minutes; and operating a personal computer.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

A full year of work is 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited based on time spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Physical Requirements: Work is primarily sedentary in a standard office environment.
