Responsibilities

This position serves as a staff advisor/coordinator and program manager in a DFAS Site Director?s Office.

The incumbent is dual-hatted as the Chief of Staff and Site Support Office Director responsible for performing diversified duties; corporate strategic planning, operations, Agency policies, and program management issues.

Supports the Director and/or Deputy Director of a DFAS site by providing recommendations for improving the business practices of the Agency, based upon comprehensive analysis of present operations and organizational structure.

Directs, plans, supervises and coordinates the work of a staff responsible for providing a variety of general support services essential to promote the effective, efficient, and timely accomplishment of work with a DFAS Site.

Plans, organizes, directs, reviews, coordinates and controls support activities under the assigned Site which include financial and resource management and miscellaneous business programs.

Responsible for planning, managing and directing tasks assigned by the Site Director and local senior executives which impact all personnel at the location.

Prepares and presents briefings to all levels of management.

Qualifications

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-13) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as experience analyzing and advising on a variety of corporate-level financial management policies; resolving issues impacting the planning, implementation, and evaluation of organization-wide financial management programs; AND interpreting, analyzing and assessing the effectiveness of large scale finance activities. Experience must demonstrate a working knowledge and skill in applying financial management concepts, principles, and practices as they relate to finance operations.

Education is not substitutable for specialized experience at this grade level.

Failure to become certified within the required time-frame may be grounds for removal from the position and/or from Federal service. This position is subject to completion of 1 year probationary period for assignment to a supervisory position.

Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-13 or higher grade in Federal Service.

This position requires a Secret clearance. Employment in this position requires a background investigation which may delay your starting date. If you are selected and cannot obtain a favorable security determination within a reasonable period of time due to disclosed or undisclosed background issues, the employment offer may be withdrawn.
