The FMWRC mission is to create and maintain FIRST CHOICE MWR products and services for America's Army, essential to a ready, self-reliant force.

Located in the scenic Hudson River Valley, only 50 miles from New York City, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point is a four-year academic institution, a nationally-renowned historic site, and the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. West Point's 3,000 civilian employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theatre, the Hudson Valley's premier performing arts center, and recreational facilities such as an 18-hole Golf Course and Ski Slope.

Additional Salary Information: Salary depends on actual hours worked. Hourly rate for leave and pay will be $23.96 to $28.75 per hour. NAF pay setting rules apply to current NAF employees.

Executes range facility opening, closing and operating procedures in accordance with installation, local, and federal laws.

Ensures proper handling, storage, accountability, inventory of ammunition and firearms.

Coordinates functions and schedules use of range, instructs patrons on range safety practices and provides customer support and information.

Issues ammunition and range related accessories to customers checking ID's and collecting fees, cashier duties and maintain records of sale.

Conducts facility and range maintenance.

A one year probationary period may be required

Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check

Completed and signed DA Form 3433 is required prior to entrance on duty

Must be able to obtain current instructor-level certification in one or more of the following (at a minimum): Pistol, Rifle, or Shotgun from a recognized national governing body (e.g. NSSA, NRA, NSCA, NACFI, etc.) within 60 days of entrance on duty.

Complete courses within 6 months of employment: MWR Orientation, Customer Service, American Red Cross Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional: CPR for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent, and American Red Cross First Aid or equivalent.

Must be able to obtain current Installation Range Certification Card, National Rifle Association (NRA) Range Safety Officer Certification, or equivalent certification within 60 days of entrance on duty.

Possess a valid driver's license.

Individual must be able to lift up to 45 pounds without assistance and heavier loads with assistance. A medical examination is required.

This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) as required by Army Regulation 600-85. A negative drug test is required prior to appointment for a TDP. Incumbent will be subject to subsequent random drug test as required.

Must meet age restrictions for the handling of firearms. Position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Incumbent for this position must be 21 years of age.

Must be able to working an irregular schedule to include nights, weekends and holidays.


1. Prior experience with firing range operations, firearm safety, and firearms instruction.

2. Knowledge of and ability to use a computer and cash register.

3. Possess good customer service skills and have experience working with the general public.

The experience/knowledge above must be reflected on your resume to be considered eligible for this position.

HIGHLY QUALIFIED - In addition to the above, a highly qualified candidate will:

1. Possess current instructor-level certification in one or more of the following areas (at a minimum): Pistol Instructor, Rifle Instructor, or Shotgun Instructor from a recognized national governing body (e.g. NSSA, NRA, NSCA, NACFI, etc.)

The certification must be reflected on your resume and your certification uploaded at the time of application to be considered a highly qualified candidate.

LAUTENBERG AMENDMENT: This position requires that the incumbent meet initial and continuing qualifications in the use of firearms as outlined in the Gun Control Act of 1968, amended by the Lautenberg Amendment of 1996. Any person who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence cannot lawfully possess a firearm or ammunition {Title18, U.S.C., Section 922(g)(9)}. A misdemeanor crime of domestic violence is generally defined under the statute, as any offense involving the use or attempted use of physical force, or the threatened use of a deadly weapon, committed by the victim's current or former domestic partner, parent or guardian. The term convicted, as defined in the statute, excludes any person whose conviction has been expunged, set-aside, or pardoned, or any person whose civil rights have been restored unless the pardon, expungement or restoration of civil rights expressly prohibits the possession of firearms or ammunition. Candidates who have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence within the meaning of the referenced statute are not qualified for this position. Candidates under consideration will be required to certify whether they have ever been convicted of such an offense. False or fraudulent information proved by candidates is criminally punishable by fine or imprisonment, [Title 18, U.S.C., Section 1001].
