About the Position:
This position is a TERM position. It is time-limited and may be extended up to a maximum of six years. This position may be converted to permanent career or career-conditional appointment without further competition as long as all requirements are met. To be eligible forconversion, employee must complete at least 2 years of current continuous service under a term appointment in the competitive service AND employee must have a current performance rating under such term appointment of at least fully successful or equivalent.

Serves as Early Childhood Special Educator for Early Intervention Services (EIS) of the Educational and Developmental Intervention Services (EDIS) program, and provides EIS to infants/toddlers and their families who are eligible for early intervention under Department of Defense criteria. Clients include infants and toddlers, birth to three years of age, with complicated developmental delays and disabilities that may result from complex medical diagnosis (e.g., genetic syndromes, vision and hearing deficits, physical disabilities related to prematurity and injuries at birth), as well as autism spectrum disorder, neuromuscular and motor dysfunction, cognitive delays, speech and language difficulties, behavioral/emotional disorders and global developmental delays. Implements a family-centered approach to services that supports and fosters confidence and competence in families to support their child's development. Provides or coordinates a range of services and supports designed to ensure and enhance children's personal development and resilience, strengthen family competencies, and promote the social and cultural inclusion of families and children.

Basic Requirements: Degree: At least a bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited college or university that included or was supplemented by a major field of study in Child Development, or Early Childhood Special Education, Early Childhood Intervention, or similar degree program addressing special needs in early childhood (e.g., developmental psychology). Army Medicine is a seamless chain of care stretching back to fixed hospitals in Europe and the United States, where Soldiers receive state-of-the-art care. Field medical units are under the command of the combatant Commanders, because their movements and work must be coordinated with those of fighting forces.
