The City of Fresno is currently recruiting for an Irrigation Specialist. Under general supervision, Irrigation Specialists perform specialized work in the installation, repair and maintenance of municipal landscape irrigation systems to include manual, smart and automated systems.
The current vacancy exists in the Department of Parks, After School, Recreation and Community Services; however, Irrigation Specialist positions are also utilized in the Department of Public Works. Therefore, the eligible list established from this recruitment may be utilized to fill future vacancies.
These are entrance requirements to the competitive examination and do not assure a place on the eligible list. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications on or before the posted filing deadline in order to qualify.
TO QUALIFY, an applicant must have: Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent GED completion;
Two (2) years of paid experience in the installation, modification, maintenance, repair and operation of manual, smart and automated irrigation systems within a municipality or commercial industry setting
Eligibles certified for consideration for this position will be required to successfully pass a Department interview and a Department of Justice fingerprint process prior to employment with the City of Fresno.
Possession of a valid California Driver's License is required at time of appointment. Candidates considered for hire must provide proof of a valid driver's license and current copy of their driving record.
The selection process will consist of a job related WRITTEN EXAMINATION which will be worth 100% of your score in determining your eligibility and placement on the eligible list.
The written examination is designed to assess a candidate's knowledge in the following areas: knowledge of the techniques and procedures used in the installation, modification and maintenance of manual, smart and automatic irrigation systems, water requirements, sprinkler system design, safety, public ****.
Candidates must achieve a passing score to qualify for the eligible list.
