About the Position:

Fort Stewart is the southern living station of choice with a great climate. Fort Stewart covers 280,000 acres including parts of Liberty, Long, Tattnall, Evans and Bryan counties in southeast Georgia. The area offers easy commuting, good schools as well as many surrounding historical sites to visit. Fort Stewart is located next to Hinesville Georgia and is about 45 miles from beautiful Savannah Georgia. Fort Stewart is within one hour of three beaches, Tybee Island, St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island. Responsibilities

Perform supervisory functions in directing work operations of subordinates.

Develop performance standards.

Perform the full scope of Locomotive engineer duties.

Coordinate work operations as needed with other activities.

Keep the supervisor informed of any accidents.

Carry out methods and policies established.

Travel Required

Occasional travel - Business travel up to 5% may be required for the position.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Locomotive Engineer Supervisor such as assign work load duties; maintaining production reports and records. I can perform minor repair of ISO containers and chassis; operating 25-ton rough terrain container handler (RTCH) in container movement and loading of commercial trucks, railcars, and chassis, pallet loading system (PLS) and military flatbed trucks. I work under normal supervision of a Division Chief who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort - The locomotive engineers must be able to climb up and down steep steps or ladders to board and leave the train. They continuously manipulate hand-operated controls while stretching, turning, and shifting position for best visibility. The locomotive engineers are also subject to physical strain from swaying motions and jarring movements, particularly when coupling cars and running on rough track.

Working Conditions- The locomotive engineers work in a cab which is often hot or cold. They are sometimes exposed to bad weather, particularly when operating with an open cab window. They are exposed to unpleasant fuel exhaust fumes and to jarring, jolting, and swaying movements. The locomotive engineers are continuously exposed to loud noise from engine operation, train whistle, and horn. They are exposed to possible injuries from accidents

Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.

Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

Direct deposit of pay is required.

This is a Career Program (CP) 24 position.
