Deloitte LLP's Policy & Government Relations (PGR) team is looking for qualified policy and legislative interns who are eager to learn about how a professional services firm engages in policymaking at the federal, state and local levels. This internship will enhance your understanding of the environments in which Deloitte operates as a large professional services firm and how the PGR team supports key business functions. As an intern, you will work with diverse groups of professionals, gain first-hand exposure to the tools, processes, and services we provide to our internal stakeholders, and learn how we engage externally with policymakers, third-party advocates, and coalitions to protect and advance Deloitte's business interests. Work you'll doAs an intern, you will work as part of the PGR team, with a focus on researching, tracking and reporting on those legislative and policy issues consistent with Deloitte's business interests. You will develop written products, including: presentations, memos, policy briefs, and fact sheets. You will also have the opportunity to attend congressional hearings, think tank panels, and other events and provide briefings about those events to the team. The teamThe Policy & Government Relations team seeks to influence public policy on issues that advance Deloitte's business interests, both directly through interaction with policy makers and indirectly through interaction with those who influence policy makers such as trade associations, think tanks, and others. Internally to the firm, the team provides guidance and direction to firm leadership on issues of strategic policy importance and helps support efforts to maximize impact across business, regulatory, governmental, and social sectors. QualificationsRequired:Candidate for a bachelor or master degree in political science, government, public policy/administration, or a related fieldStrong academic track record (minimum 3.4 GPA)Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skillsExcellent research skills and attention to detailExperience working with Power Point, Excel and WordAbility to work independently and collaboratively within a team in a fast-paced environment Action-oriented and ability to manage and meet deadlines Preferred:Strong understanding of policy environment and/or past experience working for or closely with Capitol Hill, state or local government, policy organizations (e.g. think tanks, advocacy groups), or in another government relations-related role Prior experience working on issues related to financial services, education & workforce development, inclusion & diversity or immigration, and/or previous consulting experience How you'll growThroughout the internship program, we want to give you a true taste of life at Deloitte.
