The Minneapolis VA Health Care System (VAHCS) is a large, multi-specialty, tertiary care facility providing a full range of patient care services with state-of-the-art technology. In addition to patient care, MVAHCS has many research and educational programs. We are an essential training site for both the University of Minnesota Medical School and Residency program. Weekly conferences include M&M, Grand Rounds as well as various research and journal clubs.
We are seeking outstanding physicians who are BC/BE in internal medicine or family medicine to provide outpatient primary care to our nation's Veterans. Qualified candidates will receive an academic appointment at the University of Minnesota Medical School. There is no call and panel sizes are fixed. Full time providers will have 20% protected administrative time. Internists will have the opportunity to serve for 4-8 weeks per year as a teaching attending on an inpatient medicine ward team comprised of residents and medical students.The Minneapolis VA Health Care System (VAHCS) is a large, multi-specialty, tertiary care facility providing a full range of patient care services with state-of-the-art technology. The successful candidate will be responsible for the care of a specified panel of patients. Providers will be expected to provide additional, temporary panel coverage during times of colleague vacations, illnesses, etc. The Minneapolis VA Health Care System (MVAHCS) is seeking outstanding physicians who are BC/BE in internal medicine or family medicine to provide outpatient primary care to our nation's Veterans. Qualified candidates will receive an academic appointment at the University of Minnesota Medical School. There is no call and panel sizes are fixed. Full time providers will have 20% protected administrative time. Typical hours are 8 - 4:30, M-F, though well qualified candidates should be willing to consider having shifts in the evenings and Saturdays as well. Internists will have the opportunity to serve for 4-8 weeks per year as a teaching attending on an inpatient medicine ward team comprised of residents and medical students. Providers can also expect to give their talents to section and hospital-wide committee work from time to time.

Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.
