This position is an hourly/wage position. Wage employees may not work more than 29 hours per work week on average over the course of a year and are limited to 1,500 hours within a 12 month period. No State benefits are provided.
This position provides diverse administrative and technical support to the Warrenton Residency Land Use Section. Responsibilities include processing land use permit applications and land development plan submissions; generating reports on permit and plan review activities; records management; preparing monthly budget reports; data entry into various databases; arranging and processing staff travel authorizations; reconciling monthly credit card purchases; processing expense reimbursements; running errands; maintaining state vehicle records and scheduling vehicle maintenance appointments; coordinate meetings for upper level management; assisting other Sections on an as needed basis; and other duties as assigned. Successful candidate will have strong customer service skills in order to address the needs of both internal and external customers. Position requires extensive interaction with a multitude of clients including citizens, utility companies, private firms,
staff and other government agencies. Must be able to function well under pressure and handle dissatisfied customers with a positive attitude.
Knowledge of or skill in applying administrative practices including basic office business practices and principles. Ability to read and understand manuals and guidance documents; ability to compile, coordinate and prepare reports. Skill in the use of computers and software applications to include Microsoft Office. Ability to multi-task, perform under pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive issues appropriately. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to maintain orderly and easily accessible files, as well as purge and dispose of files in accordance with record retention guidelines and schedules. Skill in providing exceptional customer service and conflict resolution.
Experience interpreting and applying policies and procedures.
