Description
The nationally accredited **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department is looking for a
Tennis Instructor II 
to work at the Cary Tennis Park
assisting tennis professionals and full-time tennis staff in routine management of programs including camps, clinics, tournaments and special events.

The selected candidate should be experienced in teaching beginners and intermediate level junior players.  Experience in teaching adults is a plus.
Does related work as required. Specific duties may vary depending upon assignment.
Work is performed under regular supervision of the Head Tennis Professional. Work requires public contact. Work schedules will vary depending upon lessons, programs, and events, but will not exceed 20 hours per week. Work schedules will include at least two weekday afternoons per week plus Saturday mornings and early afternoons. 
Typical Tasks
Assists tennis professionals and full-time tennis staff as required;

Leads or assists other tennis professionals and full-time tennis staff with camp and clinic instruction;

Manages program and participant evaluations;

Assists in tournaments and special events;

May teach private lessons;

Performs other job-related tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Advanced knowledge of tennis skills, rules and strategies Ability to interact effectively with the public Good verbal communication skills Ability to feed tennis balls for extended periods of time Ability to work outside on the tennis courts for extended time periods, sometimes in seasonably inclement weather such as summer heat or winter cold
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
REQUIRES:
High School diploma or equivalent;

Minimum of two years of teaching experience;

Experience in teaching beginner and intermediate juniors;
Tennis playing experience at a minimum of high school varsity level;

Requires drug testing and background check (which may include criminal check, education verification and credit history review) prior to employment.

PREFERS:
Experience with teaching adults;

Combination of experience and certification equivalent to a USPTA 3 or USPTR certification is a plus, but not required;
